Executive leadership for Pellicano’s mission
Dr. Ami Zara serves as Pellicano’s Director-General and Chief Executive Officer. His executive work brings programme development, institutional cooperation and organisational capacity into a coherent, accountable direction for the Foundation.

Executive responsibility
Dr. Zara’s role is to help turn Pellicano’s purpose into programmes with defined audiences, responsibilities, resources and review points. He coordinates preparation and institutional development within the Foundation’s mandate so that a proposal can be considered on its practical merits before any commitment to delivery.
Programme and capacity development
The Foundation has five ways to organise work: direct delivery, joint delivery, commissioned projects, capacity development, and referral with coordination. The Director-General helps select a suitable model for each proposal, build the team and resources it requires, and set a realistic route from planning to accountable implementation.
Responsible Institutional Cooperation
Pellicano’s contribution to a partnership should be clear from the outset, alongside the decisions retained by each participating institution. The Director-General can lead preparation, dialogue and agreed coordination within the Foundation’s mandate. Education, clinical, licensing, employment and other specialist decisions remain with the competent people and bodies.
Accountability and specialist independence
Executive leadership works within the Foundation’s governance arrangements. Project decisions need clear records, information responsibilities, safeguarding measures and review points suited to their scope. Qualified specialists make their own professional judgments; the executive office supports the conditions for responsible work and accurate reporting of activity and results.
A connected institutional role
The founder’s purpose provides a point of continuity for Pellicano’s mission, while the Director-General organises executive work under the applicable governance arrangements. Dr. Zara also created the Institutional Bridge as a separate intellectual contribution. Its creator page explains the origin and method; Pellicano can use it where it adds continuity to a suitable programme.
