Compassion, Generosity and Belonging: The Basis of Our Work
We connect immediate support with learning, independence and lasting participation.
Why Pellicano exists
We do not see support as a one-off response to a shortage. Immediate needs, access to information, opportunities to learn and the ability to participate are often connected. Our mission is to design practical, traceable pathways around these needs while respecting dignity and individual choice. People bring experience, ability and decisions of their own; they are not passive recipients.
From a challenge to a programme
We begin by defining the audience and the barrier. We then ask what responsibility the Foundation can take, what expertise and resources are needed, and what can be delivered responsibly. A response might be a learning workshop, support for a local group, accessible information or cooperation with a qualified provider. The project form follows the problem.
Support today and opportunity tomorrow
Immediate support works better when the next step is considered. Providing learning tools, for example, can be combined with guidance on their use and a check on access. This does not promise an individual outcome. It seeks to ensure that support preserves choice and independence and opens a more durable route forward.
Scope and independence
Social, educational, cultural and research work, together with local and cross-border cooperation, form our development scope. Each area requires its own plan, accountable lead, resources and delivery conditions. Pellicano has an independent identity and can work directly, jointly, through a commission, by supporting capacity or through coordination. The Institutional Bridge can add continuity in suitable projects; it is not a condition of the Foundation’s existence or work.
